Helen Lee

December 3, 1924 — January 21, 2021

HELEN LOUISE LEE was born on December 3, 1924, to the late John O. and Vallie Diggs Lee.  She was one of nine children, a native of Frederick County.  She spent most of her life in Hope Hill, MD, where she was born, raised and educated.  Helen entered into her eternal rest on January 21, 2021; Helen was 96 years old.

She was a devoted lifetime member of Hopehill United Methodist Church in which she was a Communion Steward, and for many years she was a member of the United Methodist Women of Hopehill. During her life, she was employed as a domestic worker for many years to various families in Bethesda and Frederick, MD. She also was employed at the Francis Scott Key Hotel, Frederick, MD

In addition to delighting in her family, Helen enjoyed spending her time watching TV, especially game shows and her favorite soap opera, “The Young and the Restless.”  She was an Honoree of the AARCH and the Honor Class Societies of Frederick County.

Helen Lee leaves to cherish her memory, her children: Weeda Crawford of Capitol Heights, MD, Sandra Warfield, Charles Lee, John (Roxanne) Lee, Terry (Toni) Bowie all of Frederick, MD; Grandchildren: Anthony Lee, Neilson Warfield, Nicholas Warfield, Tilon Thomas, Latisha Ambush, Jason Lee, Tenice Bowie and Tori Bowie: 18 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grandchildren; Only surviving sibling, Charlotte Gardner of Washington, DC; many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; devoted  nieces, Gwendolyn (Susie) Graves, Precious Gardner, a great-niece Grace Lee and best friend, Mildred Brown.

She was preceded in death by Son; Winfred (Bucky) Lee, Three sisters and Four brothers; Edwina Randolph, Loretta Lee and Vallie Johnson, Curtis Lee, Lloyd Lee, Raymond Lee and Lewis Lee,two decreased Son-in-Laws: Nelson Warfield and Ellis Crawford.


She was known to always carry her fancy handkerchiefs whether home, church or just going out for the evening.

Due to the Maryland State Covid-19 Mandate a private family gathering and service will be held at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike Frederick, MD 21702 on Saturday, January 30, 2021 from 10:00am to 11:00 am where services will be live streamed at 11:00 am. Interment will be held at Hopehill United Methodist Church Cemetery.
