Helen Virginia Holmes Kuhn, age 85, of 268 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown, and formerly of Chestnut Grove, MD, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, at Holly Place in Hagerstown.
Born Feb. 13, 1924 in Dargan, MD, she was a daughter of the late Earl Sylvester and Marjorie Pearl Johnson Holmes.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Guy Kuhn, in 1969.
She was a homemaker.
Helen was a former member of Chestnut Grove Church of God.
She was a former member of the AMVETS auxiliary in Hagerstown and Moose Club auxiliary in Brunswick.
Helen is survived by two sons, Clifford Kuhn and wife Paula of Knoxville, MD, and Guy Kuhn of Hagerstown; two sisters, Valeria A. Grams of Frederick, and Hazel M. Dunkin of Keedysville; one brother, Russell W.C. Holmes of Charles Town, WV; four grandchildren, Darren Kuhn and wife Laura of Charles Town, Kyle Kuhn of Hagerstown, Cory Kuhn of San Diego, Calif., and Shannon Kuhn of Hagerstown; and two great-granddaughters, Shelby Kuhn of Knoxville, and Nova Kuhn of Hagerstown.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Erscel R. Webster and Elsie L. Robinson, and four brothers, Garfield S. Holmes, Cleveland G. Holmes, Franklin D. Holmes and Louis A. Holmes.
Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Thursday at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home in Boonsboro. The Rev. Ralph Jamison will officiate. Burial will be in the Samples Manor Cemetery near Sharpsburg.
