Helen Kaufman

February 5, 1931 — December 31, 2017

Helen Louise Kaufman, 86 passed away peacefully at the Ballenger Creek Center in Frederick, MD on December 31st, 2017.   Prior to this she resided at her home in Ladiesburg, MD.  Born in 1931, Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Eugene Merhl Kaufman, in 2010.

In addition to raising her family of 7 children, Helen worked as a nurse’s aide at Homewood Retirement Center.  She also worked at Smith Bakery.  She was an avid reader throughout her life and loved spending summers in her rose garden as well as traveling to the beach with her children.

Surviving Helen are 3 siblings; Linda Parker and spouse Stewart,  Susan Welsh, and Joseph Stover  and spouse Rebecca.  She was preceded in death by siblings Elaine (Cooper), Charles Stover and Robert Stover.

Helen is also survived by her children, Beverly (Smith) and spouse Keith, Geoffrey and spouse Betty, Joan (Culler) and spouse Terry, Merhl, Michael, Pamela (Young) and spouse Jim, and Rod and spouse Lynn.  Her grandchildren include Bethany Culler, Chad Young, Christopher Creager, Garret Kaufman, Josh Kaufman, Kate Clem and Rod Kaufman Jr., and great granddaughter Katelyn Marie Culler.
The family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 40 Fulton Ave., Walkersville, MD on Friday, January 5, 2018 from 10:00 a.m.to 11:00 a.m. where services will follow at 11:00 a.m.   The service will be officiated by Pastor Terry Culler, Pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Leitersburg.  Following the service interment will be held at Glade Cemetery in Walkersville.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
