Helen R. Gilliam, 72, of Thurmont, MD, passed away Friday, May 13, 2016 at her home with her family after a long battle with cancer.
Born December 20, 1943 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late Carroll and Linda (Mullikin) Stone.
She was a 1961 graduate of Surrattsville High School in Clinton, MD. Helen held the position of Office Manager with Fitzgerald Lake Forest Auto Mall Gaithersburg for over 30 years.
She is survived by three children, Wayne Gilliam and fianceé, Tracy, of Thurmont, Keith Gilliam and wife, Missy, of Thurmont, Jessica Gilliam and her granddog, Izzi, of Frederick; special niece and caregiver, Kim Bowes of Frederick; grandchildren, Cody Gilliam and Cory Gilliam of Thurmont, Lisa Gilliam of PA and Nicole Pitts of LA; stepchildren, Lisa Thibodeaux and Lori Wiltz of Washington State, Angela Auterson of LA; her former spouse, Jimmy Thibodeaux; sister, Carolyn Cregier of IN; and many nieces and nephews.
Helen, loved doing crossword puzzles, reading and watching Family Feud while fighting this disease.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Jean and brother-in-law, Mel Cafardi; and brother, Charles Stone.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont.
