Helen Fornwald
March 2, 1926 — June 27, 2015
Helen F. Fornwald, 89, of Thurmont, MD passed away Saturday, June 27, 2015 at the Glade Valley Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Ralph Fornwald.
Born March 2, 1926 in Thurmont, MD she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Sada Lewis Long.
Mrs. Fornwald was a member of Graceham Moravian Church, the Ladies Aid Society, AMVETS Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Grange # 409, Thurmont.
Helen enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was an avid gardener and took much pride in her garden. She also enjoyed dinning at the Mountain Gate Restaurant the first Thursday of the month and loved eating apple pie and fried chicken.
She is survived by her children Beverly Weddle of Thurmont, Douglas Fornwald and wife Laura of Thurmont and Deborah Fornwald of Thurmont; sisters Margaret Hines of Thurmont, Nancy Eyler of Middle River, MD and Joyce Keilholtz of Hiawassee,GA; sister-in-law Susan Long of Hagerstown, MD and brother-in-law Emory Motter of Thurmont and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She will also be remembered by Michael and Christopher Miller.
Helen was preceded in death by a daughter Karen Fornwald; a grandson Jay Richard Weddle; son-in-law Jake Weddle; brothers Roland, Roy and David Long and sisters Virginia and Betty Motter.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 from 2-4PM and 7-9PM, where services will be held Wednesday, July 1 at 10AM.
