Mrs. Helen M. DeVaughn, 79 of Frederick, Maryland passed away at Somerford Assisted Living on Wednesday, September 7, 2011. She was the wife of the late Thomas W. DeVaughn who passed away in 2005.
Born June 9, 1932 in Glasgow, Scotland she was the daughter of the late George and Barbara McKay.
Helen retired as an LPN with N.I.H. after 20 years. She was an amazing cook and baker. She also enjoyed knitting and walking on the beach.
She is survived by her children, George Leslie and wife Myrtiss of Frederick, Olga Leslie of Frederick, Barbara Sellers and husband Bill of Thurmont, Thomas DeVaughn Jr. of Arkansas, and Heather Taylor of Myrtle Beach; grandchildren, Mary Wyatt, Sheri Holloway, Ariel Benzakein, Christopher T. DeVaughn, Thomas W. DeVaughn III, Alex Taylor, Crystal DeVaughn and Caitlyn Sellers; great-grandchildren, Michael, Cody, Austin, Colin, Briana, Aliya, Nyla and Mason; her two sisters, Barbara Mervine of Florida and Laurie Fratantonio of New York, also numerous nieces and nephews survive.
A memorial service will be held at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 East Main Street, Thurmont on Tuesday, September 13th at 2:00PM where the family will be present to receive friends from 1:00-2:00PM. Rev. Tim May will officiate.
Inurnment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
