Hazel P. Shriner
September 3, 1915 — September 8, 2008
Mrs. Hazel P. Shriner, 93, formerly of Thurmont, died on Monday, September 8th, 2008 at Scotland Memorial Hospital, Laurinburg, NC. She was the wife of the late Edgar Joseph Shriner, Sr. Hazel moved to Maxton NC with her daughter Patricia in 2001.
Born on Sepbember 3, 1915 in Thurmont, she was the daughter of the late Harry C. and Cora Mae
( Isanogle ) Humerick. She was Christened and attended the United Brethren Church until she married and moved to Baltimore where she attended the Curtis Bay United Methodist Church.
She was also a member of Weller United Methodist Church, Thurmont. Her employment included Thurmont Canning Factory, Hooper's Mills and a Dry Cleaners, both in Baltimore. Hazel enjoyed collecting light houses, crocheting, sewing, bowling and her Baltimore Orioles. Of most importance to her was her family, sharing her time with her children, grandchildren , great-grandchildren, and traveling over the United States.
Mrs. Shriner is survived by six children; Robert Lee Humerick and wife Louise of Knoxville, James Clifford Humerick and wife Carol of Thurmont, Edgar Joseph Shriner, Jr. and wife Norma of North Port, FL, Patricia Ann Shriner Locklear and husband Adrian of Maxton, NC, Harold Michael Shriner and wife Cheryl of Hanover, Gerald Wayne Shriner and wife Mary of Union, WV, a step-daughter, Elizabeth L. ( Betty Lou ) Shriner of Baltimore, one sister Pauline Virginia Humerick Grimes of Thurmont, 15 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brothers; Caroll Lee and Earl William Humerick.
Visitation: The family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main St., Thurmont on Friday, Sept. 12th, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Services: Services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 11:00 a..m. with Rev. Richard C. Broome officiating. Pallbearers will be David Humerick, Jim Humerick, Jr., Kevin Locklear, Jeff Shriner, Jerry Shriner, Jr., Scott Shriner, Charles Hecker and Less Ingram . Interment in Blue Ridge Cemetery, Thurmont.
