Mrs. Hazel I. ( Jensen ) Ford, 82, of Frederick and former long time resident of Upper Marlboro, died on December 25th, 2008 at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
She was the wife of the late Leonard James Ford.
Mrs. Ford was a member of St. Joseph's on Carrollton Manor Catholic Church.
She was employed in administration for Prince Georges County Board of Education retiring after 25 years of service. She was a member of the Kappa Phi Gamma Sorority. She was an active member of the SLOGGS, with whom she enjoyed traveling and socializing. Mrs. Ford was an accomplished writer, writing her own memoirs and shared the printed edition with her family and friends. She also wrote articles for the magazine Buckinhams Voice. She was an artist in oils and watercolors and a very talented quilter.
Surviving are three children, Janice F. Hall and husband James T. Hall, Jr. , of Frederick, Barbara M. Ford of Cambridge, MA, Mark W. Ford of Upper Marlboro, two grandchildren; Karen A. Hall Chapman and husband Brandon K., James A. Hall, a sister, Cora Marion Dykesten and husband Archie Dean Dykesten, a special niece Mary Alice Mills and husband William and their family, and many other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother Vern E. Jensen.
Visitation: Family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike,Frederick, on Monday, December 29th, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Services:
Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's on Carrollton Manor Church,
5843 Manor Woods Rd., Buckeystown. Interment at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 7th, 2009 in Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham.
