Mrs. Hazel Anna Mary Speak Finneyfrock, 94, of Thurmont, MD passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at St. Cahterine's Nursing Home. She was the beloved wife of the late Paul E. Finneyfrock, Sr.
Born May 18, 1917 in Thurmont, MD she was the daughter of the late Clyde Norman Speak, Sr. and Nora Matilda Delaphine Shook Speak.
Mrs. Finneyfrock worked for the Cannon Shoe Co. for 35 years. Hazel was a member of Weller United Methodist Church. Hazel loved flowers, enjoyed mowing the grass and raising tomatoes. She also made an exceptional lemon meringue pie.
She is survived by her son Paul "Pug" Edward Finneyfrock, Jr. and wife Ruth of Thurmont; granddaughter Rhonda Finneyfrock Preston and husband John of Wetumpka, AL; brother Clyde N. Speak, Jr. of Thurmont and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Hazel will be remembered by special friends and caregivers Charles and Jean Heims of Rock Ridge and also by special friends for over 40 years Robert and Dottie Maze of Thurmont. The family would also like to thank Dr. Alan Carroll, the caregivers and the entire staff at St. Cathering's Nursing Home. Also a special thanks to Jamie and Tammy Sizemore for all of their help.
She is preceded in death by her son Douglas Wayne Finneyfrock, her sister Ruth Sweeney and her brother John Speak.
The family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main St., Thurmont on Friday, May 4, 2012 from 3-5 and 7-9 PM where a funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 5 at 1:00 PM. Rev. Richard Broome will officiate.
Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Cemetery.
