Hayes Metz, Jr.

Mr. Hayes L. Metz, Jr., 70, of Thurmont, Maryland, passed away Monday, April 22, 2013 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Geraldine Esworthy Metz, his wife of 47 years.
Born February 7, 1943 in Frederick, MD., he was the son of the late Hayes L, Sr. and Elizabeth Mae Ramsburg Metz Staub.
Mr. Metz was a graduate of Frederick High School . He retired after 30+ years from Coca-Cola as a route salesman. Prior to working at Coca-Cola, Hayes worked at Frederick Iron and Steel for numerous years. Hayes was a member of AMVETS Post #7, VFW Post #6658, and the Blue Ridge Sportsman’s Club. He was an avid Orioles and Ravens fan, enjoyed watching all sports, baseball, football and NASCAR. He especially loved socializing with his friends.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children William W. Fritz, Jr., Brenda D. Kalo both of Frederick, Donna A. Baugher and husband Rich , Ronald E. Metz and wife Michelle of Emmitsburg and Kimberly S. McMahon of GA, grandchildren Lindsey Shankle, Joel Baugher, Kurstin Metz and several other grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. He will also be remembered by many close friends.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD on Friday, April 26, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, where services will be held Saturday, April 27, at 11:00 am.
Interment Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
