Hayden Sparks

Mr. Hayden "Randy" Sparks, of Union Bridge, went to be with the Lord at the age of 61 on Wednesday, February 17, 2016. He was a loving husband to Susan L. (Knight) Sparks of 37 years.

Born November 2, 1954 in Altoona, PA; he was the son of the Hayden L. and Betty Jean "Phoebe" Sparks of Frederick, MD. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Sonnet M. French (Jimmie) of Gapland, MD; sons, H. Garrett (Megan) of Virginia Beach and Nathan W. Sparks of College Park; two grandchildren, Owen and Leah; sisters, Susan Garvin (Dan) of NC, Sharon Trent (Brad) and Lori Robinette of Frederick; his in-laws, James and Anabel Knight of Poolesville, and many uncle, aunts, neices, and nephews.

Randy was a member of Fredericktowne Baptist Church in Walkersville. He taught Sunday school for middle school teens and sang in the adult choir. Randy told many neighbors and friends about Christ, and was always an outspoken advocate for Jesus. He loved animals and farming, seen through his various pets and projects over the years. He started working as a teenager busting sod in Poolesville.  After graduating from Poolesville High in 1973, he attended various colleges until hired by a civil engineering firm in 1978. He worked other positions until becoming a class-A truck driver in 2014. After a ten month battle with plasmobastic lymphoma, Randy passed away peacefully at the Golden Living Center in Frederick, MD. His love and beautiful spirit will be missed dearly.

Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Fredericktowne Baptist Church. The church is located at 8645 Biggs Ford Rd, Walkersville, MD 21793.

The Sowers mission in Gracias, Honduras was very dear to Randy's heart. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be written for and mailed to Fredericktowne Baptist Church with "Sowers Ministry" in the memo.
