Mrs. Hattie R. Loy, 82, of Brunswick, MD died Sunday, June 24, 2012 at Sunrise Assisted Living. She was the beloved wife of Malcolm Loy for 61 years.
Born November 20, 1929 in Jefferson, MD she was the daughter of the late Oscar Clifford and Anna Mae Cordell Smith.
Mrs. Loy was a farmer the majority of her life on her family farm. Hattie served on the Farm Bureau board for 1 year. She was also a member of the National Holstein Association. In her later years she enjoyed crafts such as making flower arrangements and wreaths and she also enjoyed sewing. Hattie was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jefferson, MD where she also served as a council member.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her daughters Marsha Sowers and husband Darren of Brunswick, Diana Price and husband Michael of PA and Sharon Maloney and her significant other Alan Hemp of Middletown ; grandchildren Justin Price and wife UnKyong of CA, Carrie Price and husband Keith Adelsburger of Baltimore, Kelli Loy Dick and husband William Dick of Brunswick, Jennifer Maloney Fogle and husband Nathanial Fogle of WV, Lee Sigler and significant other Jordan Ross of Brunswick, Andrew Maloney and significant other Rachel Herger of VA, David Sowers and wife Sarah of Boonsboro, Chelsea Herdt and husband Kyle of Middletown and Cassandra Sowers of Brunswick; great grandchildren Natalee and Karlee Sigler, Jenna and Megan Dick; brother Oscar Clayton Smith and wife Shirley, special brother-in-law Donald L. Loy of Lousia, VA and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Hattie will also be remembered by her dear friend MaryBelle Setters.
She was preceded in death by her step-mother Margaret E. Smith and her son Dennis C. Loy.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 N. Maple Ave. on Friday, June 29, 2012 from 2-4 PM and 7-9PM. A funeral service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 3864 Jefferson Pike, Jefferson, MD on Saturday, June 30 at 1 PM. Pastor Katrina Holland will officiate.
Interment will follow at St. Paul's Cemetery.
