Harvey Monroe May, 78, of Thurmont died Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Glade Valley Nursing Center, Walkersville. Harvey was born February 10, 1935 in Thurmont, MD. He was the son of the late Clarence May Sr. and Ruth Moore May. Harvey grew up in Thurmont, MD. He served in the US Navy from 1952-1954. Harvey worked for Miller and Long Concrete Construction for over 30 years as a carpenter foreman. Harvey was an avid horseback rider. He was a founding member of the Thurmont Riding Club. In 1976, he participated in the Bicentennial Wagon Train Pilgrimage. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his only son, Adam May and wife Kelly of Keymar; grandson Dakota May of Keymar; four brothers, Truman May and wife Gladys, Charles May and wife Vera, both of Thurmont, Ray May and wife Barbara of Middletown, and Raymond May and wife Shirley of Thurmont; six sisters, Dorothy Smith, Grace Blickenstaff of Yellow Springs, Patricia Main and husband Michael of Frederick, Gloria Caudill and husband Dan of Thurmont, Nancy Caudill of Mt. Pleasant, and Rose Ray of Frederick. Many nieces and nephews also survive. He will also be remembered by his friend Judy Curry and her family. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence May Jr. and Norman May. *DUE TO INCLIMATE WEATHER EXPECTED, FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS HAVE CHANGED* Family will receive friends on Thursday, March 7, 2013 from 5-7 PM at Stauffer Funeral Homes P.A., 104 East Main Street, Thurmont, MD 21788. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, March 7, 2013 at 7 PM at the funeral home. Rev. Richard Broome will officiate. Inurnment will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
