Mr. Harvey Ellwood Noel Long, 76, of Thurmont, MD, passed away Monday, January 20, 2014 at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born December 25, 1937 in Rocky Ridge, Maryland, he was the son of the late Russell and Hallie Long.
Harvey was a dairy farmer for many years and in later years worked at Rocko Meats. He was a past member of the Loyal Order of the Moose in Frederick and a past member of the Eagles in Waynesboro. He was an avid bowler in Frederick and Walkersville, winning many awards for his excellent bowling. He loved spending time with his family especially the reunions.
He is survived by his daughters Francene Dayhoff and husband Paul of Walkersville and Christal King and husband Troy of Waynesboro, PA, his grandson Alan Maxwell Dayhoff, his ex-wife Frances Ann, his siblings Russell D. Long, Jr and wife Bonnie of Frederick, Doris E. Gruber and husband "Bud" of Woodsboro, Fern V, Long of Garrett, Indiana and Connie Fream and husband "Bob" of Thurmont, Many nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Calvin, Daniel, Grayson, Irven (Buster) and Carroll and two sisters Gloria Long and Ramona Kinna.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont on Friday, January 24, from 3-5 and 7-9pm, where services will be held Saturday, January 25, at 11:00 am.
Interment Utica Cemetery.
