Harry Ridgney Leasure

Harry Ridgney Leasure, 92, of Boonsboro, Maryland, passed from this life on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at his home.

Born on February 15, 1919, in Cumberland, Maryland, he was the son of the late Harry and Virginia Belle (Whorton) Leasure.

Mr. Leasure was veteran of the World War II, having served in the United States Navy.

He was a founding member of the Boonsboro Bible Church where he had been very active.  He was also a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps in Northeast, Maryland.

Harry retired from Mack Truck in 1981 after twenty years of service.  Prior to that, he was employed with Fairchild Aircraft in Hagerstown and Celanese Corporation near Cumberland.

Harry will be fondly remembered as "Mr. Chords".  He was well known for his musical talents and teaching, as well as writing of poetry.  Harry also enjoyed woodworking.

He is survived by his wife, Rachel I. (Yokum) Leasure; his son, Harry Richard Leasure, Sr. and his wife Eleanor of Clearville, Pennsylvania; his son-in-law, Joe Liberatore of Havre de Grace, Maryland; one sister, Phyllis Williams of Colorado Springs, Colorado; one brother, Harry Boden and his wife Janet of St. Johns, Arizona; a sister-in-law, June Leasure of St. James, Maryland; a brother-in-law, Alan Spensley of Dubuque, Iowa; eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Judy C. Liberatore; one sister, Myrna Spensley; and two brothers, Bernard Leasure and Carl Whorton.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, October 24, 2011 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at the funeral home.  Rev. Robert A. Welty will officiate.

A Military Interment Ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the Rocky Gap Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Flintstone, Maryland.  Immediately following the interment, the family will gather with friends for fellowship at the Prosperity United Methodist Church near the cemetery.
