Harry Randolph {Ruben} Ruby

November 22, 1932 — April 20, 2009

Mr. Harry Randolph Ruben Ruby, 76, passed away Monday, April 20, at the Gettysburg Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Mary Louise (Johnson) Ruby whom he married on August 20, 1953.

He was born on November 22, 1932 in Germantown, Maryland, the son of the late Frederick and Martha Virginia (Savage) Ruby.

Ruben was raised in Southern Frederick County and later in Germantown. He spent his entire life as a dairy farmer, starting out working on his grandfather's farm in Germantown. In the early mid 1950s he moved to his own farm in Hyattstown and then farmed many years in Cedar Grove. In 1974 he moved from Montgomery County to Frederick County to farm in Emmitsburg.

Retiring from his dairy farm, Harry continued to raise some heifers and beef cattle. He was a member of the Maryland Virginia Milk Association, past member of the Farm Bureau, and was an honorary member of the FFA. Rubens greatest joy was his family and friends; especially watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren showing at the local fairs. When he wasn't puttering around the farm, his greatest pastime was fishing. He was a Dallas Cowboy fan and loved his wrestling.

In addition to his wife of 55 years, Mr. Ruby is survived by his five children, Charles (Randy) Ruby and wife Caythee, Robin Hertel and husband Dave, Harry (Jay) Ruby and wife Karen all of Rocky Ridge, Bonnie Glotfelty and husband Gary of Monrovia, Barbara Buisch and husband Allan of Mt.
