Harry O. Gosnell

Mr. Harry O. Gosnell, Jr., 83, of Brunswick, died Sunday, August 5, 2007 at Northhampton Manor in Frederick.

Born on September 27, 1923, in Frederick County, he was the son of the late Ethel Lloyd. He was the husband of the late Pauline E. (Bruchey) Gosnell, who died June 26, 1992. They were married for 44 years.

Mr. Gosnell's memberships included AARP, VFW Post #1936, American Legion #0211, Amvets Post #10, Moose, Brunswick Lodge #1582, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Brunswick #1136 and a Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a Technical Sergeant with the U.S. Air Force, during WWII. The Liberator Engineer-Gunner completed 40 combat missions in the South Pacific and was wounded twice by Japanese aerial gunners, once over Rabaul and another time over Yap. He obtained a small measure of revenge by shooting down a Japanese fighter over Truk. He was awarded the Purple Heart with one cluster, the Air Medal, with seven Oak Leaf Clusters and the Asiatic-Pacific ribbon with three battle stars.

Services: A graveside service will be held Friday, August 10, 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Rev. Lloyd Fuss will officiate.
