Harry LeRoy "Bud" Toms, Jr.

Harry LeRoy "Bud" Toms Jr., 81, of 8507 Mapleville Road, Boonsboro, died Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at the Washington County Hospital.



Born January 4, 1928  in Boonsboro, he was the son of the late Harry LeRoy Toms, Sr. and Elizabeth Connally Leps Toms.



After graduating Boonsboro High School in 1946, Harry served 18 months in the U.S. Army Air Corps.  He then completed two years of coursework at Hagerstown Junior College before joing the family business as a self-employed dairy farmer; a career he enjoyed for 40 years.  He had also been employed with the Berkeley County West Virginia School Board for 10 years.





Harry was a member of Benevola United Methodist Church near Boonsboro.  He was also involved in numerous fraternal associations, clubs, and organizations including the Alsatia Club, the Funkstown Lions Club, the Elks Club, the Maryland & Virginia Milk Producers Cooperative Association, the Washington County Farm Bureau, the Washington County Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Committee, the Southern States Feed Board, and the Southern States Petroleum Board.



He is survived by his three children, Harry Leroy "Terry" Toms, III of Hagerstown; Stephanie Ann Duncan Troxell, of Annapolis, Md.: and Tracey Leigh Seabolt of Edgewater, Md.; one grandson and one granddaughter.





A memorial service will be held Monday, June 1, at 10 am at the Benevola United Methodist Church, 19925 Benevola Church Road, Boonsboro, Md.  The Rev. Sharon Bourgeois will officiate.  Interment will follow in the Boonsboro Cemetery.



The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 - 8 pm at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro.





In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Benevola United Methodist Church, 19925 Benevola Church Road, Boonsboro, Md. 21713; the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Maryland Chapter, 11403 Cronhill Dr., Ste.
