Harry G. Ambush

Mr. Harry G. Ambush, 62, of Hagerstown and formerly of Frederick, went to be with the Lord unexpectedly Thursday, April 22, 2010, at Washington County Hospital. He was husband of the late Theresa P. Patsy Wansel Ambush, who died in 2008.

Born Aug. 20, 1947, in Adamstown, he was the son of the late Clyde R. and Dorothy E. Wolfe Ambush. Harry was a well-known mason and auto mechanic. He was an avid Redskins fan and a fan of auto racing, driving a dragster in his younger years. Harry enjoyed music and dancing, and even had his own band in the 1960s of which he was the lead singer.

Surviving with fond memories are four children, daughters, Stephanie Moses and husband, the Rev. Eldridge, of Gettysburg, Pa., Lisa Horton and husband, Dale, of Castaic, Calif., Tara Bolton and husband, Shaolin, of Frederick, and stepson, Staff Sgt. Chad Townsend and wife, Erin, of Dillsburg, Pa.; eight grandchildren, Falyne Ryan and husband, Christopher, Katelyne Sappington, Taurean and Dorian Moses, and Bryson, Kadence, Seneca and Taelyn Townsend; a great-granddaughter, Paityne Ryan; one brother, Webster Ambush, and a sister, Odie Mae Harris, both of Frederick; four sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law of Gettysburg; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends. Harry will also be remembered by his fiancee, Anna V. Washington, of Hagerstown; a stepdaughter, Yolanda Smith of Frederick; as well as dedicated friends, Charles and David Harris, Ernest King and Charles Jackson.

Mr. Ambush was preceded in death by brothers, Clyde Jr. and Bernard; and a sister, Evelyn Delauder.

Services: The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, April 30, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Services will begin at 11 a.m. His son-in-law, Pastor Eldridge Moses, and the Rev. Raymand McGee will officiate.

Interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg.
