Harry Edward Stockman

Mr. Harry Edward Stockman, 91, of Frederick, passed into eternal rest on April 15, 2009 at Northampton Manor after a few hours residence.

Born January 4, 1918, in Frederick County he was the son of the late Harry Isaac and May Perkins Stockman.

He was educated in the old Rocky Springs School, Frederick Co. He honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1943 to 1946 in Europe during World War II. was assigned to the 3280th Ordinance Depot Company and received numerous medals for his service.

He was employed 20 years with the B&O Railroad, Brunswick, MD; 20 years with the Frederick Iron and Steel; and for 10 years at Weis Market, Old Camp Rd.

He was a former parishioner of the Edgewood Church of God, also a member of the Thurmont American Legion, Post 168 and past member of the Thurmont Senior Citizens.

Harry was an avid Orioles fan and an accomplished duckpin bowler, earning many awards; and enjoyed to travel and gardening.

He gave his heart to four wives who predeceased him; Pauline Heffner, Asylee Ridgeway and Virginia Lucas, all of Brunswick, and Mary Rice Smith of Mountaindale. And he was predeceased by his sister, Hazel Mazur of Frederick.

He is survived by his daughters, Linda R. Sweeney at home, Linda L. Stine and husband Richard, near Libertytown; Stepsons Oscar Smith and his late wife Barbara of Frederick, and Leo Smith and wife Pauline of Thurmont. His brother Chester Stockman, and sisters Charlotte Haines and Jeanette Ramsburg, all of Frederick. Grandchildren Joseph Stine, Woodsboro; Sherry Doody Nolan, Emmitsburg; Kevin Sweeney and wife Kathi, Mountaindale. Great grandchildren Leann Windsor and Christopher Nolan, Walkersville; Kristina Sweeney, Mountaindale. Great-Great Grandchildren Zachary Easterling and Taylor Simpson, both of Walkersville. And his beloved pets, Babe and Buddy BJ.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM on both Saturday April 18, and Sunday April 19, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.

Services: Services will be held at the funeral home at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 20 with Rev. Joseph P. Sheedy officiating.
Interment will be in Clustered Spires Cemetery, Frederck
