Harry William Witmer, age 91, formerly of Williamsport, MD, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007, at his daughter's home in Harpers Ferry, WV.
Born July 14, 1916 in Smithsburg, MD, Harry was a son of the late Baughman Cleveland and Effie May Longenecker Witmer.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carrie Turner Witmer Dec. 19, 1956, and his second wife, Catherine V. Witmer, June 5, 1984. He is survived by his special lady friend, Millie Sellers of Hagerstown.
Harry had been employed for over 37 years with Greencastle Products.
He was a member of Moose International, International Order of Redmen, North American Rod and Gun Club and Catoctin Fish and Game Protective Assn.
Harry is survived by one daughter, Virginia W. Kaetzel and husband Robert, with whom he lived; one son, Victor Tom Witmer and wife Alice of Sharpsburg, MD; two step children, Calvin Turner and Glenda Lockham, both of Hagerstown; one sister, Evelyn Karmilovich of Indian Springs, MD; three grandchildren, Carrie K. Jennings, Robert W. Kaetzel and Crystal Witmer; five great-grandchildren, Victoria L. Jennings, Kristin R. Jennings, Sara L. Jennings, Amanda L. Jennings and Hannah E. Kaetzel; and one step grandchild, Timothy Loveless.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Woodrow W. Witmer, Alvey J. Witmer, Howard D. Witmer, Silas H. Witmer and Paul C. Witmer.
Funeral services will be held 1 P.M. Wednesday at Brownsville Church of the Brethren. The Rev. Alan Smith will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6 to 8 P.M. at Bast Funeral Home in Boonsboro.
