Harry Luther Bernard Walters of Frederick, died on March 30, 2016 at Homewood at Crumland Farm. He was the husband of Miriam Louise Engelbrecht Walters. They were married for 43 years.

Mr. Walters, born in Frederick Maryland in 1921, was the son of George Edward and Catherine Tobery Walters. He is survived by his devoted wife, several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Mr. Walters was preceded in death by five sisters, Betty Walters, Edna Fox, Dorothy Gibson, Courtney Moudry and Marie Smith; four brothers, John Walters, Charles Walters, George Walters, and Martin Walters; and one niece Terry Walters and one nephew William (Ronnie) Fox.

Mr. Walters served as a Sergeant in the Army Air Forces during the Second World War. He was deployed in support of combat operations in both the North African and China-Burma-India theaters and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Ribbon. He was discharged at Fort Meade, MD in July 1946.

Following his service, he was employed by the federal government at the United States Naval Yard until his retirement.

Mr. Walters attended Parkway School and was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, Frederick Maryland, where he served as an usher for more than 30 years.

Known for his rare clocks and other collections, he was a member of the Watch and Clock Association since 1970, a memer of the Frederick Moose and a member of Francis Scott Key American Legion Post 11.

Memorial services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Homewood at Crumland Farms in Frederick. Interment will be private and held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The First Baptist Church of Frederick County, 7040 Bowers Road, Frederick Maryland 21702 or Hospice of Frederick County, PO Box 1799, Frederick Maryland 21702.
