Harry Allen Swope Jr.

Harry Allen Swope Jr., 86, of Union Bridge, Maryland passed from this life on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Frederick Health Hospital in Frederick, MD.

Born on December 1, 1936, in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Harry A. Swope Sr., and Marion E (Fox) Swope.

He was a graduate of Hagerstown High School, Class of 1954. He continued his education at Hagerstown Community College and then was drafted into the United States Army from 1960 to 1962. After his service, he attended the University of Georgia where he received his BA and then Master's in Business Administration. He spent his lifetime in media production, where he produced educational programs for Montgomery County Public Schools.

He had a passion for golf, and was part of the Lion's Club as well as the Frederick Church of the Brethren, where he held numerous  lay ministry positions over the years.

Harry is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Josephine Lucille Swope, children; Krysta Stone and her husband Bryan, and Scott Swope and his wife Vanida, as well as seven grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 3, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Frederick Church of the Brethren, 201 Fairview Ave, Frederick, MD 21701.

A Celebration of Harry's life will follow the visitation, starting at 2:00 PM at church.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, June 4, 2023 at 12:00 PM at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, 14106 National Pike, Clear Spring, MD, 21722.
