Harry Mathaney Fox of Bristol, Tennessee, died on Monday, August 26, 2013, at the Mt. Airy, Maryland, home of his sisters Ruth A. Fox and Clare Fox Archer, who had been caring for him in the last months of a long illness.  He was born November 10, 1951, in Baltimore to William Ernest Fox, a Lutheran pastor, and Ruth Anna Mathaney Fox, a homemaker and church leader.  Following education in Maryland public schools, Mr. Fox began newspaper work in Garrett County, Maryland, and—after largely self-directed technical education—became proficient in all aspects of newspaper production, his lifelong career.  He served as production manager for papers in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Indiana, and Tennessee until 2012, when ill health forced his early retirement from the Bristol Herald Courier.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Virginia Mishler Fox and their children Stephen and Caitlynne, all of Bristol; his sisters in Mt. Airy as well as Ann Fox Miller, Chestertown, and Susan Fox, Darlington, South Carolina; cousins Mary and Donald Haas, Frederick, and Nancy and Richard Hartman, Springfield, Virginia, and their families; and cousin Richard Johnson, Baltimore.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Timothy Catholic Church, 8651 Biggs Ford Rd., Walkersville, MD 21793, on Wednesday, August 28 th , at 2:00 PM, followed by interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Frederick and a gathering of family and friends in Mt. Airy.  Please email archerfox@comcast.net if you are able to come to the gathering.

A memorial service at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bristol, Virginia, will be held later.  Contributions may be made to Hospice of Frederick County, P.O. Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702.
