Mr. Harry David Diehl, 79, of Fairfield, PA went to be with his wife "Mary" and our Lord on March 23, 2013. He was the husband of Mary Frances Wetzel Diehl, who passed on December 10, 2009.
Born on March 8, 1934 in Carroll County, he was the son of the late George Henry and Mary Belle Yingling Diehl.
Harry worked as a farmer in his younger years and retired after 41 years with GAF Corporation of Blue Ridge Summit, PA "currently ISP Minerals." He was a former member of the Indian Lookout Conversation Club and the Blue Ridge Sportman's Club. Harry will be remembered for his love of coon hunting and his country butchering's over Thanksgiving holiday.
Harry is survived by his children, daughters C. Jean Eyler and husband Donald of Fairfield, PA, Miss Heather Caufild of Hanover, PA, and son Hugo Diehl of Emmitsburg, MD; 10 grandchildren, Ellie Wastler, Donnie Eyler, Tammy Getzandanner, Charlie Sayler, Thomas Sayler, Christopher Brady, Courtney Phillips, Graver Diehl, Luke Diehl and Tonya Diehl and 10 great-grandchildren. He will be remembered by special friends and caregivers Jen Sayler of Emmitsburg, MD, Jane Shorb of Thurmont, MD and Larry Bolin of Fairfield, PA. He will also be sadly missed by his faithful dog "Star."
He is preceded in death by brothers Charles Samuel Diehl, Sr., John Diehl, Paul Diehl and sisters Myra Hoffman and Helen Stonesifer.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main St., Thurmont on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 28 at 11 AM. Rev. Richard Broome will officiate.
Interment will follow at Emmitsburg Cemetery.
