Harrison Price Reese (Bub), brother of Phil and second son of the late Harrison Reese and Evelyn Price Reese, ran his last worldly race on April 2, 2024. Bub - and everyone who knew him called him "Bub" - was born on February 13, 1942 in Baltimore, MD.
Bub had two sets of two eras in his life: before he married Shirley in January 1980, and afterwards; and the two professions/hobbies of drag racing engineering where he met Shirley, and model airplane competition. Bub was widely and well-known for his phenomenal skills driving 250 mph+ dragsters.
In the mid-1980s, Bub moved his racing engineering and machining to Sharpsburg, MD to an 8- acre, sylvan and isolated piece of land, near the Antietam battlefield. He and Shirley built, almost literally by themselves, a beautiful A-frame house overlooking his land. For the next almost forty years, he continuously modified and improved their home up until their deaths. Family members firmly believe that his wife's passing in March 2021 took most of the stuffing out of Bub, and that he truly died of a broken heart.
Bub is survived by his brother, Phil, of Las Vegas; his nieces, Kristine, of Avon, OH, and Amanda, of Mesa, AZ; stepsons, Bob and Chris Talbot; six step grandchildren; and 10 step great-grandchildren; and his dog, Shadow, who has adopted his new family in Pennsylvania.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 12 p.m. on Friday, April 12, 2024 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro.
A celebration of life will begin at 12 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home in Boonsboro. He will be laid to rest in his family's cemetery in Annapolis at a later date.
