He honorably served in the United States Navy during WWII as a PT boat mechanic. He was co-owner of The Jones Motor Inc., a Dodge-Chrysler dealership formerly located in Mt. Airy. He moved to Ridgeville in 1928 and it was due to his efforts that Ridgeville was incorporated into Mt. Airy in 1966.  Mac was extremely civic minded and very active in the Mt. Airy community.  He was elected to the town council in 1968 and served for 20 years, the last 16 as president.  He was a member of the Mt. Airy Lions Club, the Mt. Airy Chapter of the VFW, and a past commander of Gold Star American Legion, Post 191.  He was also a member of both the Mt. Airy Volunteer Fire Company and the Auxiliary to the Mt. Airy Volunteer Fire Company, earning the President's award for service.  As a result of his years serving the town, Mac was inducted into the Mt. Airy Hall of Fame.  Mac was also proud to be a member of the PT Boaters Association, keeping in close contact with many Navy friends.  He enjoyed woodworking, boating, gardening, golf, horseshoes, traveling the world with Sue, his wife of 62 years, but above all of these, he loved spending time with his family.

Surviving are 5 children: Jim Molesworth and wife Elaine, Richard "Puddy" Molesworth and wife Kris, Joanne Beazell and husband Randy all of Mt. Airy, Rita Wilkerson and husband Dave of Damascus and Trish Southworth and husband Jim of Mt. Airy; 16 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
