Harold Layman

July 30, 1939 — July 10, 2016

Mr. Harold Dean Layman, 76, of Frederick, loving father, devoted husband and faithful follower of Jesus, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 10, 2016. He was the husband of Carilee Henkel Layman. They were married for 55 years.

Born July 30, 1939 in Buchanan, VA, he was the son of the late Raymond M. and Eunice (Smith) Layman.

As a skilled tradesman Harold was adept in several areas to include metal fabrication and roofing. He retired from NIST under the US Dept. of Commerce as a sheet metal mechanic and was responsible for maintaining the 52 buildings located at the facility.

In his younger years he enjoyed camping. He taught his children and grandchildren to swim and fish. He enjoyed studying the Bible, praying and hosting many Bible studies at home. Above all else, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Kenny Dean Layman and wife Angie of Hanover, PA, and Arthur Dean Layman and wife Laana of Oklahoma City, OK; three grandchildren, Bethany Layman, Hannah Layman, and Jessica Layman; one great-granddaughter, Victoria Rose; two sisters, Norma Jean Harris, Linda Diane Paxton; one brother, Roger Lee Layman; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at New Life Foursquare Church, 5913 Jefferson Pike, Frederick, MD 21703, where funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 15th. Officiating will be Pastor Dave Hendershot and Pastor Jack Gilbert.

Please dress casual, No Suits.

Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
