Harold E. Jones

Harold devoted his time and energy to his family. Throughout his life he was loved, supported, and cherished by his wife of 65 years, Carol L. Jones.

Harold was born in Boonsboro, Maryland on April 22, 1931, and passed away in Lutherville, Maryland on February 1, 2025, at the age of 93. He is forever loved and survived by his daughter Lisa (Jones) Mullins, her spouse Andrew Mullins, their two children Megan and Eric Mullins, daughters in law, Cassie Mullins and Audrey Seningen, and great grandchildren Mae and Leo Mullins. His parents were Reva Pearl (Whitlock) Jones and Lewis Edward Jones, Sr. Harold had one sister, Doris (Jones) Long, and nine brothers. He is survived by his brothers Bobby (wife Carol Kay), David (wife Charlene), and Gary (wife Tina). Harold was preceded in death by his brothers Gerald (wife Dorothy), Lewis (wife Carol), Leon (wife Betty), Frank (wife Ester), Blair (wife Martha) and Samuel (wife Linda).

Harold graduated from Boonsboro High School in 1949 and immediately joined the Air Force where he served until 1953. He spent the majority of his working career at C&P Telephone company in Hagerstown which later became Verizon. He started as an installer which took him all over the state of Maryland. Harold later transferred inside as a toll testman where he worked on setting up and troubleshooting phone service. He retired in February of 1995 after 38 years.

Harold was a member of the Communication Workers of America and the Telephone Pioneers, a community service organization. He was also a proud member of the Boonsboro American Legion Post #10 and the Hagerstown Elks Lodge #378.

Harold loved spending time with his family and spoiling his grandchildren. He enjoyed pitching softball, both in his younger days and again as a “senior”. He played golf, built and flew radio control airplanes, treasure hunted antiques at public sales and refurbished and repaired antique clocks. Harold enjoyed playing chess and he was something of a history buff who loved reading about our presidents and the Civil War. He also created a genealogy spanning three generations for his family members.

Harold was outwardly quiet and reserved but quick with a joke or a one-liner. He was conservative with money but generous to others. His priority was always the care and protection of his wife, Carol, and his family.

The family will receive friends from 1-1:30 PM on Saturday, February 8, at Bast-Stauffer Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro where services will begin at 1:30 PM. Interment will follow in Boonsboro Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Stella Maris Hospice in Harold’s name would be welcomed and appreciated. Stella Maris Hospice, 2300 Dulaney Valley Road, Timonium, MD 21093 https://stellamaris.org/donate
