Harold Griffith

March 27, 1931 — July 24, 2014

Harold D. Griffith, 83, of Boonsboro, Maryland, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2014, at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown.

Born on March 27, 1931 in Boonsboro, he was the son of the late David L. and Temmie E. (Greenwalt) Griffith.  His wife, Marjorie L. (Abbott) Griffith, preceded him in death on July 9, 2014.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean War.

Harold worked as a Kiln Burner for 20 years and was a hand brick maker for 17 years.  He was employed at Graves Concrete Pipe Yard in Hagerstown and Cushwa Brick (now Redland) in Williamsport, Maryland.

After retiring in 1996 he worked as a handyman for local Boonsboro townspeople.

He will be fondly remembered for his love of restoring, detailing and cleaning old cars.

Harold is survived by his daughter, Jill L. Flaugher and one grandson, John David Fauble, both of Boonsboro.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Griffith; his son-in-law, Doug Flaugher; his six brothers, Glenwood, Elwood, William, Woodrow, Luther and Richard Griffith; and his six sisters, Mildred and Milby Griffith, Annie Haupt, Angie Moats, Marie Hawks and Martha Miller.

Harold will be laid to rest in a private ceremony of military honors as rendered by the Clopper-Michael American Legion Post 10 in Boonsboro.
