Harold Acres

Harold R. Acres, 80, of Thurmont, MD (formerly of Nashua, NH), passed away Thursday, December 27, 2018 at his home.

Harold loved his family immensely and enjoyed a long and successful career in banking. But his engagement in community service was unprecedented. He served health and social service agencies locally and nationally, volunteered in politics at all levels, and was deeply committed to the Exchange Club, America’s Service Club, for which he served as National President.

Harold is survived by his beloved and dedicated wife Shirley (Baer) Acres, daughter Valerie and her fiancé Edward Austin, son Brian, daughter Amy and her husband David Rivera, grandchildren Ryan, Ava and Jacob Rivera, brother Paul, and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was predeceased by his parents, Harold R., Jr. and Elizabeth (Sproul) Acres, brother John, and wife Jeanne (McDonough).

The family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main St., Thurmont on Monday, December 31, 2018 from 11:30AM-12:30PM with a service at 12:30PM. Interment will follow at Utica Cemetery.
