Mr. Harlen Leroy Wiles, 82, of Thurmont died Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at Kline Hospice House. He was the loving husband of Shirley Wiles. They were married for 61 years.
Born August 29, 1932 in Frederick County, he was the only child of the late Harlen A. and Mary F. Rippeon Wiles.
Harlen was a dairy farmer for 40 years prior to retiring in 1978. For 15 years, he was a truck driver for the Frederick County Roads Department, and later worked for five years for R. F. Kline.
Following his stroke 10 years ago, his wife, Shirley, and daughter, Donna, became his primary caregivers.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Douglas Wiles and wife, Sherree, of Thurmont; Debbie Easterday and husband, Donald, of Thurmont; Dean Wiles and wife, Ludy, of Gaithersburg; Donna Heinzl of Thurmont; and Don Wiles and wife, Sharon, of Inwood, W.V; seven grandchildren, Diana Yarnell and husband, Craig; Donald Easterday, Jr. and friend, Casey; Christopher Wiles and wife, Yourl; Serena O'Brien and husband, Morgan; Kara Heinzl and friend, Scott; Brent Heinzl and Molly Wiles; one step-grandson, Daniel Perry; four great-grandchildren; and six step great-grandchildren.
Harlen will be remembered by his cousin, Alfred Wiles, and his former son-in-law, Les Heinzl.
He was predeceased by two grandsons, Douglas Wiles, Jr. and Sean Eric Wiles; and one step-grandson, Matthew Perry.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, November 3, 2014 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont, where services will begin at 11 a.m.
Interment will be private.
