Miss Hannah B. Pittleman, 89, of Frederick, MD, died Sunday, November 19, 2006 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born December 3, 1916 in Richmond, VA, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Clara Pittleman.
Hannah attended public schools in Richmond, VA, thru high school. She moved to Washington, D.C. to gain employment in the federal government, living in Arlington, VA. Hannah received a two year degree from Strayer College. She became a Defense Department analyst working at the Pentagon where she received many commendations. She retired from the Defense Department in 1971 and worked for a number of years in the private sector.
Hannah moved to Crestwood Village in Frederick, MD, in the late 1980's to be closer to family members. In the late 1990's she moved to Homewood at Crumland Farms where she was very active, including delivering the daily newspaper to residents throughout the building. She enjoyed paling the piano for residents of the Willows and for many events. Hannah was a lover of music, the arts, good books and, most importantly, her family. She was kind hearted and generous person who loved people and enjoyed discussing current events.
She is survived by a sister-n-law Carmene S. Pittleman of Frederick, niece Janice Pittleman & husband Bud Jacobs of Lovettsville, Va, nephew Stephen Pittleman & wife Karen, great-niece and nephew Clara and Jake Pittleman all of Derwood, MD, She was preceded in death by her brother Zeke Pittleman.
Visitation: A celebration of Hannah's life will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 22, 2006 in the Margaretta F. Slayman Chapel at Homewood at Crumland Farms, 7401 Willow Rd., Frederick, MD.
Services: A grave side service will be held on Friday, November 24, 2006 at 11:30 A.M. at Judean Gardens in Olney, Maryland.
In lieu of lowers, donations may be made to the Benevolent Fund of Homewood at Crumland Farms or to a favorite cause in Hannah's memory.
