Mrs. Hallie Brown Hummer, 93 of 11A Maple Avenue, Walkersville, MD died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, Nov. 15th, at her home. She was the wife of the late Raymond Miller Hummer Jr.
Born April 29, 1918 in Frederick County, she was the daughter of the late Charles Sunville and Mollie Beard Brown.
Mrs. Hummer was a member of the Glade United Church of Christ in Walkersville. She worked many years as a seamstress for Shriners, and was a member of the Garment Workers Union. She was a member of the Francis Scott Key Post 11 American Legion, Frederick.
Surviving are one son, Raymond M. Hummer III and wife Joan, Frederick; one daughter, Mrs. Sherry Pencola, and husband James of Walkersville; one brother, Russell L. Brown and wife Ruby of Walkersville; two sisters, Utie Pittinger of Thurmont, and Bessie Young of Woodsboro; three grandchildren, Raymond M Hummer IV and wife Theresa of Frederick, Ryan W Hummer and wife Carrie of Thurmont and Lauren L. Pencola of Walkersville; three great grand children, Brendan, Hallie, and Michael Hummer of Frederick.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Hummer was preceded in death by one daughter, Miss Donna Elaine Hummer, two sisters, Mary Catherine Brown and Belva Barton; four brothers, George W. Brown, Donald R. Brown, Charles R. Brown and Wilmer L. Beard.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 17, 2011 from 6 to 8 PM at the Stauffer Funeral, 40 Fulton Ave., Walkersville. The funeral service will be held on Friday, November 18, 2011 at 11 AM in the funeral home with Rev. Philip N. Curran officiating.
