Mrs. Guyla May Beacht, 90, of Frederick passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at her son's home surrounded by family members. She was the wife of the late Charles Donald Beacht, who predeceased her on July 18, 1982.
Born September 28, 1926 in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Lorraine (Barnes) May.
Guyla initially spent quite a few years working at American Optical as a receptionist, but spent the majority of her career as a senior accountant for CanAm Steel. Guyla retired at 83 years old!
She loved every sport imaginable....... baseball, football, golf, tennis. Guyla was an avid Redskins and Washington Nationals fan and she even had season tickets for many years to her beloved 'Skins.
She was a very active member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church here in Frederick for many many years.
Guyla will be missed by her dog, Jodi, who was her loyal and faithful companion for the last 11 years.
She is survived by two sons, Gerry Beacht (Charlotte) of Tarpon Springs, FL, and Kevin Beacht (Judy) of Frederick; four grandchildren, Cheri Harkey of Land O Lakes, FL, Kristi Kruse of Lithia, FL, Kristyn Bojonny of Frederick, and Dana Beacht of Woodsboro; two step-grandsons, Jason Bojonny of Frederick, and Kevin Bojonny of Clarksville, TN; five great-grandchildren, Samantha Harkey, Jake Harkey, Tysen Kruse, Parker Kruse, and Lexi Skinner; and three step great-grandchildren, Jordan Bojonny, Khloe Bojonny and Kolton Bojonny; siblings, Donnie May (Ginny), Kenny May (Bonnie), Sandy Gouker (Paul), and Darlene Reeder; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Deanna May and Mabel (Jitter) Nicklas.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday, February 6, 2017 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, with services to begin at 11 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Tim May.
Inurnment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery
