Greta James
March 9, 1932 — January 27, 2015
On January 27, 2015 from an apparent heart attack. Born March 9, 1932 and raised in her beloved PA, Greta was a longtime Arlington, VA resident before her move to Fahrney Keedy Home & Village, MD. She graduated from Doylestown High School in 1950 and married. In the early years of raising her family, Greta pursued her talents in music, mime and drama, performing in community theater, plays and musicals. Later she and Charles “Jeff” Jefferson formed the “Greta & Jeff” duo performing at several DC area restaurants. By day, Greta was the friendly customer service rep at the Lee Harrison BB&T, Arlington branch. Her marriage to Wynne James III ended in divorce but they remained friends. Her companion of 12 years, David Kaseman, preceded her in death. Survivors include daughters Susan (Chris) Ahalt, Nina (John) Hochevar, Anne (Tom) Harman, grandchildren Samantha (Kevin) Conroy, Jack Ahalt, Sonya Hochevar, great grandchildren Zoe and Tyler Conroy, special nephew and family Geoff, Sandrine and Owen James and dear cousins. Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 8 from 4-6 pm at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, MD 21713 with family burial next day in Richland, PA. A celebration of life will be planned later this year in Arlington. In lieu of flowers, donations suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association.
