Greta Huffer

Mrs. Greta M Huffer , 82, of Middletown, Maryland, passed from this life on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Glade Valley Center in Walkersville. She was the wife of the late Donald B. Huffer who died in 2004.

Born on January 31, 1935, in Springfield, OH, she was the daughter of the late Frank J. and Bertha A. Whittington Barclay.

Greta was married to Donald for 64 years after meeting at the Braddock Heights Roller Rink.

She was a program assistant for the Frederick County Farm Service Agency.

Greta was a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Middletown as well as the Mid Valley Homemakers Club; she also served with the Frederick Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, the Frederick County Hot Line and a board member of the Farm Service Agency.

She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, farming, flowers, birds, Jumbo's Pumpkin Patch, Tuesday Morning Bible Study, Zion Worship Choir, Zion Grief Support Group, cooking, Washington Redskins and rocking on her porch.

She is survived by her children: Donna J. Huffer, David B. Huffer and wife Kathy and Martin L. Huffer and wife Jeri all of Middletown; four grandchildren: Amy Deavers and husband Bill of Westminster, Amanda Rhinecker and husband Thomas of Middletown, Jessica Pavelko and husband Matt of Keedysville and Sarah Knox and husband Dustin of Smithsburg; four great grandchildren: Alayna Head, Toby Deavers, Rosie Deavers and Rebecca Rhinecker; a sister, Betty Wendling of Chicago; sisters-in-law: Josie Remsberg, Dottie Plumer and Thelma Ramsburg, brother-in-law Ron Zielke. Mrs. Huffer was preceded in death by siblings: Charles Gray, Raymond Gray, Ruth Bame, Carol Wendling, Kathy Zielke and Polly Sorensen and sisters-in-law: Edna Mae Oliver and Louise Stup.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 Thursday, April 20, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at  11:00 on Friday, April 21, at Zion Lutheran Church, 107 W. Main Street, Middletown, MD 21769.

Interment will take place in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Middletown.
