Gregory Wayne Semler, 65, of Hagerstown, passed from this life on Friday, October 18, 2013.
Born on August 24, 1948, in Hagerstown, he is the son of Florence Marie (Schoultz) Semler of Hagerstown and the late John L. Semler, Jr.
Greg was a 1968 graduate from North Hagerstown High School and had attended the Hagerstown Junior College. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
He was the owner of Greg Semler's Karpet Klean, Just Plane Klean and Pool Boy. Most recently, Greg has worked for Angel's Flag Car Service as a wide load truck escort.
Greg was a member of Saint Mary Catholic Church in Hagerstown, and formerly was a member of the Potomac Playmakers, the Funkstown Lions Club and the American Legions in both Funkstown and Boonsboro.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Andrae (Wolford) Semler; two sons, Josh Semler and wife Kim, and Matthew Semler and wife Andrea, all of Hagerstown; three step-children, Heather Copenhaver and husband Chris of Boonsboro, Chad McGlaughlin of Greencastle, Pennsylvania, and Michael McGlaughlin and wife Meghan of Abingdon, Maryland; one sister, Phyllis Semler of Hagerstown; one brother, Robert Semler and wife Deborah of Boonsboro; and his sister-in-law, Judy Semler of Hagerstown. Affectionately known as Poppy, he is also survived by twelve grandchildren.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Semler, III.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 25, 2013 at Saint Mary Catholic Church, 224 West Washington Street in Hagerstown. Rev. George A. Limmer will officiate.
