Mr. Gregory Alan Phebus, 57, of Frederick passed away suddenly January 3, 2015 in Charlotte, North Carolina, from a heart attack on the way home from a vacation in Aruba. He leaves behind the only woman he loved, his best friend and fellow Navy and Raven football fan, his beloved wife, Dr. Debra Phebus.
Born December 31, 1957 in Frederick, he was the son of the late George and Erma Phebus.
Greg attended St. John's High School and St. John's Catholic Church in the 1970's. He worked at the Red Horse Restaurant early in his working years. He also spent endless hours at United Company #3 Firehouse, which led him to become a certified Firefighter, EMT and Paramedic. He worked for numerous employers before he became a certified and licensed Heating and Air Conditioning Service Technician. He owned his own heating and air conditioning company in the 1990's before working for Carroll Fuel. He was presently employed at W.A. Tolbard as the service manager.
He was an avid football fan and had season tickets for Navy football and the Ravens. He loved vacationing annually in Aruba with his wife.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister, Carole Young and her two children, Ty and Alissa Young; a special aunt, Rita Payne of Florida; his beloved mother-in-law, Patricia Main, whom he loved and adored; and his very dear nephew and buddy, Matthew Williams and wife, Katie, of Brunswick.
Additionally, Greg leaves behind many aunts and uncles in Frederick; very special and dear friends, Dave Keefer, John Marshall, Bobby Young and Kevin Gardner; and his special friends in Aruba, Kristy, and JoHan.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Funeral services will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, January 9 from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Tim May officiating.
Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
