Gracie Virginia Dodson Roberts, of 2551 Chestnut Grove Road, Sharpsburg, MD, passed away Friday, Jan. 11, 2008, at Washington County Hospital following a courageous battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Born Dec. 22, 1931 in Ranson, WV, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Jessie Jenkins Dodson.
Gracie had retired as vice president of Roberts Electric Motors, Inc., in Frederick, MD, and was a homemaker.
She was of the Protestant faith.
Gracie is survived by her husband of 48 years, Allen M. Roberts; one daughter, Carla Moore of Sharpsburg, MD; three sons, Marvin VanReenen, Robert VanReenen and Dwayne Roberts, all of Sharpsburg; five grandchildren, Marvin VanReenen II, Robert VanReenen II, Chad VanReenen, Grace Moore and William Moore; four great-grandchildren, Danyel VanReenen, Josh VanReenen, Nazy VanReenen and Samantha VanReenen; one sister, Betty Jane Roberts of Keedysville, MD; one brother, Arthur Dodson of Sharpsburg; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Ernest VanReenen and William Roberts, two sisters, Betsy Jean Metz and Gladys Cooper, and one brother, Ernest Dodson.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Tuesday at Bast Funeral Home in Boonsboro. Pastor Joseph Burdette will officiate. Burial will be in Samples Manor Cemetery near Sharpsburg.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.
