Grace Ann Sheffield

Grace Ann Sheffield, 79, of Frederick, passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

Born April 6, 1930 in Great Neck, New York, she was the daughter of the late Spencer O. And Anna Geasey.

Grace was the devoted wife of Wilbur F. Sheffield, Jr., who predeceased her on March 31, 1979.

For many years, she worked by her husband's side in his law practice. Following his death, Grace was a dedicated employee of Hood College, where she served as an Administrative Assistant for the Dean's Office, Biology Department, and Honor's Program until her retirement in 2000.

She was an active member of the widow's group, Rainbow Belles, of which she was one of the original members.

Grace loved antiquing and gardening; and will be remembered for her devotion to her family, as well as her caring and gracious spirit to all who knew her.

Surviving family members are her three daughters, Joyce A. Sheets and husband, Robert, of Sharpsburg; Lois L. Freeman and husband, Michael, of Glen Cove, New York; and Kimberly B. Soscie and husband, James, of Glen Head, New York; grandchildren Jason, Josie and husband Jeremy, Joanie and husband Gerhard, Zachary, Casey, Matthew, Amy, Kyle, Cara Grace; and great-grandson, Harry.

She will also be remembered by sisters-in-law, Nancy Geasey of Frederick and Betty Sheffield, formerly of Frederick, in addition to several nieces and nephews.

Grace was predeceased by her brother Spencer O. Geasey of Myersville, and granddaughter Jessica Freeman.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 on Wednesday, October 14th at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.

Services: Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 15th at Stauffer Funeral Home. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
