Mrs. Grace C. Wiles, 104, died Monday, November 3, 2014 at Citizens Care and Rehab Center. Twice married, she was the wife of the late Clarence Koontz and Harlen A. Wiles.
Born November 11, 1909 in Mt. Pleasant, she was the daughter of the late John and Carrie Burrier Lochner.
Grace was a lifelong member of Mt. Pleasant Reformed United Church of Christ. In earlier years, she worked at Mercers Rexall Drugstore. Following her retirement, she worked six days a week until the age of 98 at Quality Shoe Repair, where she was affectionately known as "the lady at the shoe repair place." Grace was a kind hearted woman who would help anyone in need.
She is survived by her sister, Mildred V. Romsburg of Frederick; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and her good friend and guardian, Pauline Keeney.
Grace was predeceased by sons, Ed Lochner, Ronnie Koontz, and an infant son; brothers, Herman Lochner and wife, Margaret; and Carl Lochner, and wife, Margaret; sister, Pauline Lowman and husband, Albert; and her brother-in-law, Gene Romsburg.
A graveside service in celebration of her 105th birthday, will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 11 at Union Chapel Cemetery in Daysville. Officiating will be the Rev. Robert Rock.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Citizens Care and Rehab Center, 1920 Rosemont Ave., Frederick, MD 21702, Attn: Activities Department.
