Ms. Grace Janet Routzahn, 84 of Frederick, MD went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 12, 2012. She passed away at Homewood of Crumland Farms surrounded by her loving and devoted family.
Born February 17, 1928 in Huntington, New York she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Florence Whittum.
She was a loving, caring and generous person. She loved taking care of her family and her friends.
She was a mother, a grandmother, a great grandmother, a sister, and aunt and a friend to many. She laughed. She loved and she gave from her heart.
Grace was a longtime member of the Evangelical Reformed United Church of Christ in Frederick.
Grace volunteered for more than 20 years at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. She loved history and enjoyed reading. The first part of her life was spent in England and she had a great love for that country.
The most important thing in her life was having a relationship with those she loved.
She is survived by her four children, Jan West and husband Steve, Daryl Routzahn and wife Paula, Lindsey Morin, and Susan Barnett and friend Bill Everhart, her loving grandchildren, Todd Starr and wife Ashley, Kim Hotaling and husband Jay, Chris Starr and fiancé Marta, Michelle Sullivan and husband Sean, Shelley West and Lindsay West ,her great grandchildren, Jonah, Zachary, India, Cara, Julia and Alex, her loving sister, Elizabeth Prongas, her special niece, Rebecca Pearl, three sister-in-laws, Mary Staley, Jane Marks and Elinor Hutton.
Grace will be remembered by all of her many special friends, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and all of her friends and the staff at Homewood of Crumland Farms.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Monday, April 16, 2012 from 6:00-9:00pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 17th at 10:00am with Pastor Dale O’Shields and Pastor Steve Rivera of Church of the Redeemer officiating.
A private interment will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
