Grace Ecker

Grace Stull Ecker, 93, of Thurmont, died peacefully on Friday, February 2, 2018 at Tranquillity of Fredericktowne in Frederick. She was the beloved wife of the late Merhle "Doc" Ecker. They were married for 33 years at his passing in 1977.

Born April 15, 1924, in Lewistown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Staley Feaga and Bessie (Keyser) Stull.

Grace was a graduate of Frederick High School Class of 1941. Following graduation she worked at the Frederick County Courthouse. In the 1950's she worked as a waitress at Bollingers Restaurant in Thurmont. For many years she worked at Moore Business Forms. She was a lifelong member of Faith United Church of Christ and a life member of American Legion Post 168 Auxiliary in Thurmont. She was a wonderful homemaker and cook. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Surviving are her son, Larry Ecker and wife, Donna, and a daughter-in-law, Susan Ecker, all of Thurmont; three grandchildren, Christopher Ecker and wife, Brennan, Erin Lawrence and husband, Jason, and Neil Ecker and wife, Lisa all of Thurmont; and six great-grandchildren, Casey and Olivia Ecker, Abby and Hannah Lawrence and Chancelor and Dillon Ecker.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Ecker; brother, Edward Stull; and sister, Anna Mary "Mollie" Snyder.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2018, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 East Main Street in Thurmont. Pastor Rob Apgar-Taylor will officiate. Interment will be at Blue Ridge Cemetery in Thurmont.

The family will receive friends Thursday one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, in Grace's name, may be made to the American Legion Post 168 Auxiliary, 8 Park Lane, Thurmont, MD 21788 or to the Alzheimer's Association at 108 Byte Drive, Suite 103, Frederick, MD 21702.
