Goldie M. (Palmer) Authers, 94, a resident of Williamsport Nursing Home in Williamsport, Maryland, passed away peacefully from this life on Thursday, November 10, 2011.
Born on December 15, 1916, in Washington County, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Maude (Gabe) Palmer. Her husband, Charles W. Authers, Sr. preceded her in death in 1980.
She was a member of Black Rock Bible Church in Hagerstown, Maryland. Goldie was formerly employed by Doubleday Publishing in Smithsburg, Maryland.
Goldie is survived by her grandson, Alan J. Authers of Bremerton, Washington; two sisters, Mabel McCleaf and Catherine Gilbert all of Hagerstown; and a niece, Doris Wisler of Hagerstown. In addition, Mrs. Auther's is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Goldie was preceded in death by a son, Charles Authers, Jr; two brothers, Fred and Harry Palmer; and three sisters, Florence Armstrong, Ethel Edwards and Daisy McCauley.
A graveside ceremony will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at Rose Hill Cemetery, 600 South Potomac Street, Hagerstown, Maryland. The Rev. Matthew Robinson will officiate.
