Mrs. Gloria W. "Snip" Walters, 87, of Frederick, MD, died Friday, February 19, 2016 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Charles A. "Jake" Walters who died February 24, 2003.

Born December 9, 1928 near Pearl, MD, she was the daughter of the late Eugene H. and Altia Winpigler Wright.

In Gloria's early years she was employed at McCrory's on Market Street in Frederick. After graduating from Frederick High School in 1947, she married Charles "Jake" Walters July 10, 1948 at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church where, for years, she was a Sunday School Teacher and sang in the church choir. Gloria sometimes attended Braddock Lutheran Church. She was a life-member of the Braddock Heights Fire Co. and its Auxiliary. Gloria was a member of Braddock Grange #365 and a seventh degree member of the National Grange for Pomona Grange #11. She was Flora for years and the women's activity co-chair.

She will be remembered by her many friends and neighbors at Braddock where she lived for more than 50 years. Gloria loved to travel and was always ready to go on trips with her many friends.

She is survived by her only child, a daughter, Garnetta Webber of Middletown, MD; two grandchildren, Corey D. Webber of Brunswick, and Laura Stokes and husband, David, of Knoxville, MD; great-grandchildren, Laykin Sigler, Meghan Weedon, Tiffany Stokes and Cody Stokes; and sister-in-law, Elaine Walters and brother-in-law, Harry Walters and wife, Mickey, all of Frederick; special niece, Jo-Ann Lee of Frederick; and nieces and nephews.

Gloria was preceded in death by sister, Evelyn Finneyfrock and brother, Bernard Wright; and son-in-law, Mark D. Webber.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Stauffer Funeral Home, Frederick.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, February 29th at the funeral home with Rev. Elaine Prince officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

In the late '50's farming became a way of life for her and her family. She had remained a hard-working person all of her life, working until nearly 87 years of age.
