Glenn Hutzell

Glenn Ellwood Hutzell, 82, of Main Street in Boonsboro, Maryland, died suddenly on Friday, July 9, 2010.

Born on January 2, 1928, in Clevelandtown, Maryland, he was the son of the late Albert S. and Martha Pearl (Beachley) Hutzell.  His first wife, Anna V. (Coblentz) Hutzell, preceded him in death in 1985.

Mr. Hutzell was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army.

Glenn was a 1950 graduate of Boonsboro High School.

He was a Licensed Surveyor and was employed for 28 years with Baker Wibberley and Associates in Hagerstown, Maryland.

Glenn was a member of the Brownsville Church of the Brethren where he served as a Deacon and was involved in various committees.

He is survived by his wife, Nora L. (Smith) Webber Hutzell; two sons, James E. Hutzell and his wife Judy of Martinsburg, West Virginia and Jeffrey A. Hutzell and his wife JoAnn of Gapland, Maryland; one step-son, Thomas L. Webber and his wife Mary of Keymar, Maryland; and one sister, Anna Lee Burker of Sharpsburg, Maryland.  He is also survived by six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Glenn was preceded in death by his sister Madeline Hutzell; and his four brothers, Roger, Eugene, Leroy and Robert Hutzell.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at the Brownsville Church of the Brethren, 1911 Rohrersville Road, Brownsville, Maryland.  Rev. Alan M. Smith will officiate.  Burial will follow at the the Brownsville Heights Cemetery.  Military honors will be rendered by the Marine Corps League of Hagerstown and Amvets Post 10 of Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. on Monday, July 12, 2010 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, Maryland where friends may begin visiting at 12 noon.  The family will also receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Brownsville Church of the Brethren, 1911 Rohrersville Road, Brownsville, Maryland, 21715.
