Glendoris J. (Bussard) Leatherman, 85, near Ellerton, Maryland, was called home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at the MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC. She was the beloved wife for 60 years of the late Clarence E. Leatherman, who passed in 2007.
Born near Wolfsville, Maryland, on August 13, 1929, she was the daughter of the late John L. and Edna V. (Frushour) Bussard.
Mrs. Leatherman was a life member of the Grossnickle Church of the Brethren and a Life Deacon. In her younger years, she was very active as a Sunday School Teacher, Bible School Teacher, and for over 20 years she prepared and cooked the beef on the farm in a butcher kettle for the Spring Love Feast for the church.
She was a farmer's daughter and married a farmer. The farm, family and the church were her life. She was a hard worker her entire life, and in her spare time she enjoyed ceramics, was an excellent seamstress, and a superb cook.
She is survived by her five children, Marion Leatherman and wife Sharon, Linda Buhrman and husband Nelson, Clair Lee Leatherman and wife Marjorie, all of Myersville, and Dwayne A. and Gary D. Leatherman with whom she resided. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Francis Bussard; and brother-in-law, Ralph Naille; and she is also survived by her sister-in-law, Viola Bussard of Frederick; one sister, Kathleen Naille of Jefferson; one brother, Paul L. Bussard and wife Val Jean of near Wolfsville; and six grandchildren, Kevin Leatherman and wife Jennie, Kelly Rumpf and husband Danny, Tricia McGoldrick and husband Matt, Philip M. Buhrman, and Shawn A. and Heather L. Leatherman. She is also survived by seven great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, a big extended family, and many friends. She also will be missed by her beloved yellow lab Dusty, who was her loyal, devoted , faithful, and constant companion.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the Grossnickle Church of the Brethren, 11301 Meeting House Road in Myersville. Rev. Tim and Donna Ritchey Martin will officiate. Final resting place ceremonies will follow in the adjoining church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2015 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro.
