Glendora Ballam

September 3, 1930 — April 28, 2016

Glendora Ruth (Brandenburg) Ballam, 85, of Mt. Lena, Maryland, passed into Heaven on Thursday, April 28, 2016, while surrounded by her loving family at her daughter's home.

Born on September 3, 1930, in Washington County, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late John Josephus and Edna Katherine (Stottlemyer) Brandenburg. Her husband of 46 years, Samuel George Ballam, preceded her in death in 1998.

She was a 1949 graduate of Boonsboro High.

Glendora spent most of her life as a homemaker and had been employed for 18 years at Dorbee Manufacturing in Hagerstown, Maryland, and also worked in housekeeping at Fahrney Keedy Home & Village in Boonsboro.

She was an active member of Mt. Lena United Methodist Church where she was a founding member of the Apple Dumplin' Gang. She was also involved with the church Senior Citizen's Group and for many years she prepared communion for church services.

Glendora loved to bake, especially pies, and she also enjoyed sewing.

She is survived by two daughters, Debra K. Moser and husband Gregory of Hagerstown, and Diane K. Sandy and husband Joseph of Boonsboro; two sisters, Phyllis Easterday, and Jeanette Easterday and husband Jacob, all of Mt. Lena; six grandchildren, Andrea and her husband Andy, Brooke, Tyler, Kody, Mollie, and Ben; two step grandchildren, Angela and Jody; three great grandchildren, Sam, Logan, and Drew; and three step great grandchildren, Camryn, Alexis, and Aaron. She also will be missed by her special neighbors, Rob and Becky Higman.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Poole; and one brother, George Brandenburg.

A celebration of Glendora's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 2, 2016, at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro. Rev. Ronald R. Kurtz will officiate. Final resting place ceremonies will follow at Mt. Lena United Methodist Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, 2016, at the funeral home.
