Gladys Martin

Gladys Irene (Chambers) Martin, 88, of Frederick, MD, and formerly Clinton, and Clemson SC, passed away September 25, 2018. She was the loving wife to the late Homer L. Martin whom passed away in 1980.
Born on January 25, 1930 in Oconee County, SC, she was the daughter of the late John and Florence (Blackwell) Chambers. She belonged to the Reedy Fork Baptist Church in Seneca, SC when she passed. She was very active in many churches during her lifetime, specifically the First Baptist Church of Clinton, SC where she participated in many missions throughout the United States. She was well known in the Clinton SC, area for the beautiful ceramics she created in her shop, named the Triple M Ceramics shop. She was an avid reader and loved to sew and made many fashionable garments during her lifetime. Many of these garments are still treasured by her daughter today. Though a Southern lady, she loved visiting her daughter, Marguerite and husband, Bryan “up north” in Frederick. Many of their friends loved to hear her “Southern drawl.”
She is survived by her only daughter Marguerite (Martin) Dinkle and her husband Bryan of Frederick, MD and her- daughter-in-law Melanie Martin of Clemson, SC. She will also be remembered by her son-in-law’s family, Harold and Loberta Staley of Thurmont, MD, Brenda Dinkle and Jeff Wright of Frederick, MD and their daughters, Bailey Wright, of Frederick, MD and Ali Wright of WVU.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Ronald L. Martin in 2013 and her step-granddaughter, Sarah Jane Dinkle in 2017.
